Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy Erlangen
The customer needed a solution for the highly sensitive area of laboratories. The highest quality in detail was required here. The system not only had to be able to constantly provide fresh air, but also do so with the highest possible energy efficiency and reliability.
he new Chemikum building at the University of Erlangen has been completed. Huber und Ranner was awarded the contract for the construction of the air handling units, which includes the Faculty of Natural Sciences. The building complex (10,000 m² floor area) was built on the south campus of the University of Erlangen. The Chemikum consists of two four-storey building blocks with laboratories. A six-storey connecting structure with lecture halls and three entrance halls spans these buildings.
The two parts of the Chemikum building are located on the south campus of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and house the departments of Organic and Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Food Chemistry on three floors each. Both parts of the building are connected by a wing in which the administration and seminar rooms as well as 2 lecture halls are located, which are also used by neighboring institutes.
The total area, including office buildings, is 9,500 m². The customer needed a solution for the highly sensitive laboratory area. The highest quality of detail was required here. The system should not only be able to provide fresh air at all times, but also do so with the highest possible energy efficiency and reliability. Huber & Ranner was commissioned to manufacture and supply 10 supply air units and parts of the exhaust air handling units.
